Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the BeebleVox application and the [beeblevox.com] website handle information. BeebleVox is operated by [YOUR NAME / COMPANY] ("we", "us").

We don't run servers for your conversations

BeebleVox connects people directly, device to device, over an encrypted connection (QUIC / TLS 1.3). Your text, voice, images, files, and direct messages are exchanged only with the peers you're connected to. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or can read this content, and there are no user accounts to sign up for.

What stays on your device

The app keeps the following locally, on your computer only — it is never sent to us:

• Your display name and profile picture, your settings, and (if set) your parental-controls PIN, which is stored encrypted.
• Your friends list and cached friend avatars.
• An optional, short-lived local message history (configurable, and can be turned off).
• Any recordings you choose to enable via parental controls. These save only your own microphone plus a text transcript; other people's audio is never written to disk.

Removing the app, or using the in-app "clear history / clear cache" controls, deletes this local data.

Connection information

To help two peers find and reach each other over the internet, the app can use relay servers and a public peer-discovery network (provided by the open-source iroh project and its operator, n0). To route a connection, this infrastructure may briefly process technical data such as IP addresses — but not the content of your communication, which stays end-to-end encrypted. Choosing LAN-only mode in the app avoids relays and public discovery entirely.

Optional downloads

Some optional add-ons are downloaded only when needed: the emoji set and language packs, and the on-device content-filter and speech-to-text models. These come from our file host (Cloudflare, at [resources.beeblevox.com]) and, for speech-to-text models, from a third-party host (Hugging Face). As with any download, the host can see your IP address and which file you requested, recorded in standard server logs. The models then run entirely on your device; nothing you say or type is sent to them.

The website

Our website is served through Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser information) to operate the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking/analytics cookies. [If you add analytics or cookies later, describe them here.]

No tracking, ads, or data sales

BeebleVox does not phone home. There is no analytics or telemetry built into the app, no advertising, and we do not sell or share personal data. Crash reports and feedback are written to local files that you choose whether to share.

Children

BeebleVox offers optional on-device parental controls, but it has no accounts and we collect no personal information centrally, so we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. A device used by a child is managed by the parent or guardian who controls it. [If you market to or knowingly serve children, review COPPA / GDPR-K obligations with counsel.]

Third-party services

Depending on how you use the app, the following third parties may be involved and have their own privacy terms: Cloudflare (website and file hosting), the iroh / n0 relay and discovery network, and Hugging Face (speech-to-text model downloads).

Terms of Use

By downloading or using BeebleVox, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use BeebleVox. The app is provided free of charge and "as is". [If BeebleVox is released under an open-source license, name it here and note it governs the software.]

You are responsible for your content and conduct

Because BeebleVox is peer-to-peer, we do not host, see, monitor, or moderate your conversations, files, or shared content. You are solely responsible for what you send, receive, and share, and for the people you choose to connect with. You agree not to use the app to break the law, to harass or harm others, or to share content you don't have the right to share.

Recording & consent

The optional recording feature saves your own microphone and a transcript of a conversation on your device. Laws in many places require the consent of everyone being recorded — and are stricter where minors are involved. You are responsible for knowing and following the recording-consent laws that apply to you.

Parental controls are best-effort

Content filters (profanity, image screening), curfews, and similar controls run on the device and are provided as-is. They are aids for a guardian, not guarantees — they can miss things and can flag things wrongly, and they are not a substitute for supervision.

No warranty

BeebleVox is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app or the content exchanged through it.

Third-party services

Connectivity relays, download hosts, and your operating system are provided by others and governed by their own terms; we're not responsible for them.

Governing law & changes

These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE / COUNTRY], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
